The feeding guide is only a recommendation for adult dogs with normal metabolism and should be adjusted with your veterinarian’s help to ensure proper body condition. Feed puppies according to the feeding chart, which is roughly twice the adult feeding chart, from 8 weeks until 20-26 weeks depending on the breed. Amounts being fed at 20-26 weeks should be sufficient for the lifetime of your dog pending no dramatic changes in activity. For gestation, feed approximately 50% more during the last month of gestation and feeding amounts can be from 50% more to three times the feeding directions depending on litter size.
